Obama Eases Cuban Travel Restrictions

President Obama announced this week that he was easing up on the restrictions for flights between the US and Cuba. Obama said that he wanted to reach out to the Cuban people who are struggling to survive in the small communist controlled country. However, Cuban leaders have said that the President is not doing enough to help the country just by easing restrictions.

Cuba is a land of the poor and things have gotten worse with most trade routes with the US cutoff. Cuba has asked for years for the trade between the two countries to be opened once again but the US has thus far refused. Many believe that this has been due to the fact that the US has attempted for many years to remove the communist party from the country.

But there is some good news for those that are living in Cuba. It is now much easier for them to travel to the US. There is no longer a long waiting list of those that need to be verified for their particular trip and most anyone will be allowed in as long as they have the necessary passport and so on.

Cuban leaders have said that they would like to meet with the President in the near future to discuss further options for opening up trade between the two nations. But for the time being they will have to be satisfied with the easier travel plans that have been laid out by the US.
